Overview

OMED-2 is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody currently in preclinical development by Onena Medicines. It is designed to target and neutralize Dual-Specificity Inhibitory Protein 2 (DSIP#2), a member of a novel class of secreted proteins that act as metabolic and growth regulators. Onena's therapeutic strategy involves using antibodies to block DSIPs that are aberrantly expressed in disease states, functioning as "brakes" on normal cellular processes or promoting pathological growth. OMED-2 is being investigated for the treatment of solid tumors, specifically melanoma and prostate cancer, as well as iron-deficient anemias, where DSIP#2 is thought to play a regulatory role in disease progression or metabolic imbalance.
