Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omega-3-6-9 Junior is a lipid-based nutritional supplement manufactured by Nordic Naturals, containing a specific blend of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs), including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). It was investigated in the Preemie Tots pilot study led by Dr. Sarah Keim at Nationwide Children's Hospital to evaluate its effects on development and behavior in toddlers born very preterm (≤29 weeks gestation) who exhibit symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The supplement aims to provide essential fatty acids that are critical for brain development and may be deficient in children born prematurely. Clinical findings suggested that supplementation may reduce autism symptoms based on parent reports, with improvements observed in language development and social gesture use.
