Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omega-3 plus is an oral dietary supplement containing omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) that is being investigated by Mansoura University for its chemopreventive properties in patients with high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). In the clinical trial NCT04664816, it is administered at a dose of 1200 mg twice daily for at least 12 months following transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) and in conjunction with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunotherapy. The treatment is hypothesized to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence by modulating inflammatory pathways and molecular markers within the bladder tissue, which are being analyzed through histopathological and molecular studies of resected urothelial tissues.
