Overview
Omega-DEK is an investigational multi-ingredient nutritional formulation designed for the treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), verbal apraxia, and related neurodevelopmental symptoms often observed in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The formulation is a combination of omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and vitamins D, E, and K. The therapeutic rationale for Omega-DEK is based on the hypothesis that children with CAS may have unique nutritional requirements, increased oxidative stress, and deficiencies in Vitamin E and fatty acids that affect motor planning and speech coordination. Vitamin E serves as a potent antioxidant, protecting neuronal cell membranes and PUFAs from lipid peroxidation, while the fatty acids are essential structural and signaling components of the nervous system. In clinical research, Omega-DEK is frequently studied in conjunction with L-carnitine to address hypothesized underlying metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction.
