Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**OmegaD** is an oral softgel nutraceutical product developed by OmegaD for dry eye disease. Its active constituents are the marine omega-3 fatty acids **eicosapentaenoic acid** and **docosahexaenoic acid** in triglyceride form. The product was evaluated in randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled Phase 3 studies in dry eye disease, with mineral-oil softgels used as placebo. The development rationale was to increase systemic omega-3 fatty-acid exposure relative to omega-6 fatty acids and thereby modulate inflammatory processes relevant to ocular-surface disease and meibomian gland dysfunction.
