Omeglucosol sodium is a selective relaxant binding agent (SRBA) developed by Zhejiang Xianju Pharmaceutical for the reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by aminosteroid non-depolarizing agents such as rocuronium and vecuronium. Chemically, it is a modified cyclodextrin derivative designed to encapsulate these neuromuscular blocking agents within its lipophilic core in the plasma. This encapsulation creates a concentration gradient that promotes the dissociation of the blocker from the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, thereby rapidly restoring muscle function. It is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials as a potential alternative to sugammadex for reversing both moderate and deep neuromuscular blocks in patients undergoing general anesthesia.
