Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A diagnostic cocktail of four probe drugs—omeprazole, dextromethorphan, midazolam, and fexofenadine—used to assess the phenotypic activity of specific drug-metabolizing enzymes and transporters. Developed by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris for the MARVEL study (MetAbolism vaRiability of VEnLafaxine), it evaluates the activity of Cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP3A4) and the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) transporter in patients with major depressive disorder receiving venlafaxine. This research tool helps investigators understand pharmacokinetic variability and its impact on treatment efficacy and tolerance, aiming to advance personalized medicine approaches in psychiatry by identifying individual metabolic profiles.
