Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omicron strain COVID-19 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated is an inactivated whole-virus vaccine developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products (BIBP), a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG) and Sinopharm. The vaccine is derived from the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant (specifically the BA.1 subvariant, strain HK-OM-P0) cultivated in Vero cells and inactivated with beta-propiolactone. It is formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine is designed to prevent COVID-19 caused by the Omicron variant by inducing neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses specifically targeting the Spike protein and other structural proteins of the Omicron strain. It has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 and Phase 3 clinical trials as a primary series or booster immunization.
