Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omicron Subvariant-Based SARS-CoV-2 Recombinant Spike Vaccine Adjuvanted With Matrix-M is a protein subunit (recombinant nanoparticle) vaccine developed by Novavax and commercialized in partnership with Sanofi. It is designed to prevent COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2, specifically targeting various Omicron subvariants (such as XBB.1.5 and JN.1). The vaccine consists of recombinant full-length, stabilized prefusion SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoproteins formulated with Novavax's proprietary saponin-based Matrix-M adjuvant to enhance and broaden the immune response. It is administered as an intramuscular injection and is indicated for active immunization in individuals aged 12 years and older, particularly those at high risk for severe COVID-19.
