Overview

Omidac is a branded generic small molecule medication marketed by SBM Enterprises, a pharmaceutical company based in India. The active ingredient in Omidac is omeprazole, a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to manage conditions characterized by excessive gastric acid production. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric and duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Omeprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system, also known as the proton pump, located in the gastric parietal cells. By blocking this final step in the acid secretion pathway, Omidac effectively reduces gastric acidity and promotes the healing of acid-related mucosal damage. As a finished formulation distributed through a PCD (Propaganda Cum Distribution) model, it is an approved and marketed product in the Indian pharmaceutical market.
