Overview

Omilancor is an oral, gut-restricted small molecule agonist of the Lanthionine Synthetase C-Like 2 (LANCL2) pathway, a metabolic checkpoint that regulates immune responses. By activating LANCL2, omilancor promotes an anti-inflammatory environment in the gastrointestinal tract, characterized by the induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-17. Developed by Landos Biopharma and subsequently acquired by AbbVie, the drug is designed to provide a localized therapeutic effect in the gut with minimal systemic exposure, thereby reducing the risk of systemic immunosuppression and associated side effects. It has been investigated primarily for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
