Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OMN-71 is an antimicrobial peptide (AMP) currently in preclinical development by Omnix Medical for the treatment of skin and topical infections. The drug is a genetically engineered version of natural peptides from the Cecropin family, designed to physically disrupt and destroy bacterial cell membranes. This mechanism of action is intended to provide broad-spectrum activity against pathogens associated with conditions like acne and atopic dermatitis, including antibiotic-resistant strains such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), while minimizing the potential for the development of bacterial resistance. OMN-71 is formulated for topical administration.
