Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omnident is a brand of specialized oral care products developed by Group Pharmaceutical, encompassing formulations such as gum paints and toothpastes. The Omnident gum paint is a multi-ingredient topical solution containing tannic acid, zinc chloride, and cetrimide, indicated for the treatment of gingivitis, bleeding gums, and mouth ulcers. Tannic acid acts as an astringent by precipitating proteins to form a protective layer and constrict blood vessels, while zinc chloride provides additional astringent and antiseptic properties. Cetrimide serves as a quaternary ammonium antiseptic to reduce microbial load in the oral cavity. Other variants under the Omnident brand, such as toothpastes, may include potassium nitrate for the management of dentinal hypersensitivity by modulating nerve excitability.
