Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OmpA recombinant protein vaccine is a subunit vaccine platform utilizing recombinant outer membrane protein A (OmpA) as an immunogen to prevent infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, most notably multidrug-resistant (MDR) *Acinetobacter baumannii*. OmpA is a highly conserved, abundant outer membrane porin that plays a critical role in bacterial adhesion, invasion, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance. Immunization with recombinant OmpA stimulates the host immune system to produce high titers of antigen-specific antibodies (such as IgG1, IgG2a, and IgG2b) and modulates cytokine responses, thereby providing protective immunity and reducing bacterial burden in key organs like the lungs, spleen, and liver upon pathogen challenge.
