OMS-103HP is a PharmacoSurgery product candidate developed by Omeros Corporation, designed for use during arthroscopic procedures such as partial meniscectomy and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. It is a proprietary combination of three small-molecule drugs: ketorolac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), amitriptyline (a tricyclic antidepressant), and oxymetazoline (an alpha-adrenergic agonist). The drug is added to standard irrigation solutions used during surgery to deliver therapeutic agents directly to the surgical site. Its mechanism of action involves the preemptive inhibition of inflammation and pain by targeting cyclooxygenase enzymes and providing local analgesia, while oxymetazoline acts as a vasoconstrictor to reduce bleeding and potentially prolong the local effect of the other components. Although OMS-103HP successfully completed Phase 3 clinical trials, its commercialization was halted following a licensing dispute with Fagron, which failed to meet its commercialization obligations.
