Overview

OMS1029 is a long-acting, second-generation monoclonal antibody that targets mannan-binding lectin-associated serine protease-2 (MASP-2), the effector enzyme of the lectin pathway of the complement system. By inhibiting MASP-2, OMS1029 selectively blocks activation of this pathway, which plays a role in inflammatory and blood clotting responses to tissue injury while leaving other parts of the immune system intact. The drug is being developed for potential use in autoimmune diseases such as Berger's disease (IgA nephropathy) and other lectin pathway disorders. OMS1029 is administered by subcutaneous or intravenous injection and has demonstrated a long half-life, allowing for dosing intervals ranging from once monthly to once quarterly. Omeros has completed Phase 1 clinical trials evaluating its safety and tolerability in healthy subjects[1][3][4][6].
