OMT-250 is a preclinical-stage small molecule being developed by OMEICOS Ophthalmics, a subsidiary of OMEICOS Therapeutics, for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases including geographic atrophy (GA) and glaucoma. The drug is a synthetic analog of omega-3 fatty acid metabolites, specifically mimicking the biological activity of cytochrome P450 (CYP)-derived epoxyeicosanoids such as 17,18-epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (17,18-EEQ). OMT-250 is designed to leverage the natural anti-inflammatory, cytoprotective, and mitochondrial-stabilizing properties of these metabolites to prevent retinal cell death and optic nerve damage. By providing a stable synthetic version of these short-lived natural signaling molecules, the therapy aims to address the chronic inflammation and metabolic dysfunction underlying progressive vision loss in age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
