Overview

OMWW-OL (Oliphenolia) is a polyphenol-rich extract derived from olive mill wastewater (OMWW), a byproduct of olive oil production. It is characterized by high concentrations of hydroxytyrosol and other polyphenols that exert potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Developed by Fattoria la Vialla, OMWW-OL has been investigated as a nutraceutical strategy for the prevention and management of sarcopenia, particularly in populations with metabolic syndrome. Clinical pilot studies suggest it may improve muscle mass indices and handgrip strength while reducing markers of lipid peroxidation like oxidized LDL. Additionally, it is utilized in cosmeceutical preparations for skin health.
