**OMX-4.80** is an engineered H-NOX domain protein serving as an oxygen carrier designed to preferentially penetrate and oxygenate hypoxic tumor tissues, enhancing the efficacy of radiotherapy (RT). Developed by Omniox, Inc., it selectively releases oxygen in low-oxygen microenvironments, reducing tumor hypoxia without causing cardiovascular, renal, or hypertensive toxicities associated with hemoglobin-based carriers. Preclinical studies in mouse glioblastoma models and other hypoxic cancers demonstrate tumor growth delay and survival benefits when combined with RT, attributed to its ability to cross the blood-tumor barrier and persist in tumors.[1][5]
