Oncolytic adenovirus expressing hamster interferon alpha is an experimental **oncolytic virus therapy** for pancreatic cancer, particularly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. It is a replication-competent wild-type adenovirus serotype 5 engineered to express the **hamster interferon alpha** transgene from the E3 region, incorporate an **RGD-4C** motif in the fiber knob to enhance infectivity, and overexpress **adenovirus death protein** to improve tumor cell lysis and viral spread. The therapeutic concept is selective replication in tumor cells with local production of interferon alpha, combining direct oncolysis with cytokine-mediated antitumor activity. Published work from academic investigators including Julia Davydova and Masato Yamamoto has shown preclinical activity in Syrian hamster pancreatic cancer models, including synergy with gemcitabine, nab-paclitaxel, 5-fluorouracil, cisplatin, and radiation, but the agent has not been reported to have entered human clinical development or to have a commercial brand.
