Overview

ONCOS-102 is a genetically modified oncolytic adenovirus therapy designed to selectively infect and destroy cancer cells, particularly those with p16/Rb pathway defects, which are common in many human cancers. The virus is engineered to express granulocyte–macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a cytokine that stimulates the immune system. Upon intratumoral injection, ONCOS-102 replicates within tumor cells, causing their lysis and releasing tumor antigens that help trigger both innate and adaptive anti-tumor immune responses. This dual mechanism—direct oncolysis and immunostimulation—aims to enhance the body’s ability to recognize and attack cancer cells systemically. It is being developed primarily for solid tumors such as malignant mesothelioma and soft tissue sarcomas[1][3][4][5][7][8].
