OncoVAX

**OncoVAX** is an investigational, patient-specific autologous whole-tumor-cell cancer vaccine developed by Vaccinogen for adjuvant prevention of recurrence after curative resection of stage II colon cancer. It is manufactured from a patient's resected tumor: tumor cells are isolated, sterilized, gamma-irradiated so that they remain metabolically active but non-proliferative, and administered intradermally. The first two of four planned vaccinations include TICE strain bacillus Calmette-Guérin as an immunostimulatory adjuvant; the final two doses contain irradiated autologous tumor cells alone. The intended mechanism is induction of a broad cellular immune response against the patient's own tumor-associated antigens and residual micrometastatic disease. OncoVAX has been evaluated in randomized phase III studies and remains in phase III development for stage II colon cancer; it is not an FDA-approved product.
