Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oncoxin + Viusid (Oncoxin-Viusid, OV) is a **nutritional supplement** comprising a mixture of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and plant extracts, notably including glycine, glucosamine, arginine, cystine, malic acid, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, ascorbic acid, zinc sulfate, green tea extract (epigallocatechin gallate), and cinnamon extract, among others. It is formulated by Laboratorios Catalysis. OV is designed to provide **antioxidant**, **immunomodulatory**, and reported **anti-tumor supportive effects**. Mechanisms include inhibition of pro-tumor factors (e.g., tissue necrosis factor, cyclooxygenase 2), restoration of apoptosis (p53, BAX, caspase-3 activation, Bcl-2 inhibition), stimulation of interferons and interleukin 12, and increased phagocytic function of macrophages and T-helper cells. Clinically, it is studied as a supportive agent to reduce the toxicity and adverse events associated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy in oncology patients (e.g., cervical, endometrial, prostate cancer) and to improve quality of life and hematological parameters during cancer therapy[1][3].
