Overview

MYSET-R is a fixed-dose combination injectable drug developed by Novogen Captab, containing the antiemetic ondansetron (4 mg) and the acid-reducing agent ranitidine (50 mg). Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that works by blocking serotonin receptors in the gastrointestinal tract and the central nervous system, thereby preventing nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Ranitidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that reduces gastric acid secretion by competitively inhibiting histamine at the H2 receptors of gastric parietal cells. This combination is typically utilized in clinical settings where both antiemetic and acid-suppressant effects are required, such as in the management of post-operative recovery or acute gastrointestinal distress.
