Overview

InteguRx Therapeutics is developing a transdermal patch formulation of ondansetron for the treatment of Pregnancy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (PINV). Ondansetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that works as an antiemetic. The company utilizes a proprietary skin penetration enhancement system to enable the transdermal delivery of ondansetron, which typically has poor skin permeability. This formulation is designed to deliver therapeutic doses through the skin, providing a non-oral alternative for pregnant women who suffer from severe nausea and vomiting and are unable to tolerate or retain oral medications. By bypassing the gastrointestinal tract, the patch aims to improve treatment adherence and efficacy in patients with severe PINV symptoms.
