Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Onicopod is a topical therapeutic formulation developed by Epitech for the management of nail disorders (onychopathies) and periungual inflammatory conditions. The active ingredient is **adelmidrol**, a synthetic analogue of the endogenous fatty acid amide palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). Adelmidrol belongs to the ALIAmide (Autacoid Local Injury Antagonist) class of compounds, which act by modulating mast cell activation and degranulation. By stabilizing mast cells and reducing dermo-epidermal hyper-reactivity, Onicopod helps to control local inflammation and pain associated with various podological conditions. It is primarily marketed as a medical device in the European Union for the restoration of the nail apparatus.
