Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ONO-1301MS is a **sustained-release formulation of ONO-1301**, a synthetic prostacyclin (prostaglandin I2) receptor agonist and thromboxane A2 synthase inhibitor. ONO-1301MS utilizes poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres for extended drug release, achieving long-lasting biological activity after a single subcutaneous injection[1][3][4][5][6]. Mechanistically, ONO-1301 stimulates prostacyclin receptor (IP) while inhibiting thromboxane A2 synthase, resulting in improved vascular dilation and reduced platelet aggregation, and additionally upregulates endogenous prostacyclin and prostaglandin E2 levels[2][3]. This drug also induces cytokines and growth factors involved in tissue repair, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)[2][3][4]. ONO-1301MS has shown potent anti-inflammatory, antifibrotic, and cytoprotective effects in animal models of diseases such as pulmonary hypertension, chronic asthma, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)[1][2][3][4][5][6].
