ONO-2808 is an orally administered small molecule agonist of the sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 5 (S1P5), also known as S1PR5 or Edg-8. It is being developed by Ono Pharmaceutical for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, with a primary focus on multiple system atrophy (MSA). The drug acts by selectively activating the sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 5, which is one of several receptors for sphingosine 1-phosphate, a lipid signaling molecule involved in various cellular processes. As of early 2025, ONO-2808 has reached Phase II clinical trials in patients with multiple system atrophy in both Japan and the United States[1][2][3][4][6]. There are no approved indications or brand names for this compound yet.
