Overview

ONO-3310 is an orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of the prostaglandin E receptor 4 (EP4), currently under development by Ono Pharmaceutical. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The EP4 receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the effects of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and is known to play a role in maintaining renal function and protecting against glomerular injury. By activating EP4, ONO-3310 aims to exert nephroprotective effects, potentially through the reduction of inflammation, improvement of renal hemodynamics, and stabilization of podocytes. Clinical development is currently in the early stages, with Phase 1 studies evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in both healthy volunteers and the target patient population.
