Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ONO-6414 is an orally bioavailable, selective small molecule antagonist of the **Prostaglandin E2 receptor 4 (EP4)**, currently under development by **Ono Pharmaceutical**. It is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of **ulcerative colitis**. While PGE2-EP4 signaling is traditionally associated with mucosal protection, it also plays a role in promoting Th1 and Th17 cell-mediated inflammation and the production of inflammatory cytokines like IL-23. By antagonizing the EP4 receptor, ONO-6414 aims to modulate these inflammatory pathways and provide a novel therapeutic approach for patients with active ulcerative colitis.
