ONO-7268MX1 is an investigational therapeutic cancer vaccine being developed by Ono Pharmaceutical for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is a peptide-based vaccine, specifically a cocktail formulation (indicated by the 'MX' designation) that contains peptides derived from Glypican-3 (GPC3), a cell-surface oncofetal antigen that is highly overexpressed in HCC but has limited expression in normal adult tissues. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the patient's immune system to generate a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against GPC3-expressing tumor cells. Administered via subcutaneous injection, ONO-7268MX1 is typically emulsified with an adjuvant to enhance its immunogenicity. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients with advanced HCC who have no other standard or adequate therapeutic options.
