Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ONO-8713 is a selective small molecule antagonist of the prostaglandin E receptor subtype EP1 (prostanoid EP1 receptor). Developed by Ono Pharmaceutical, it is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the role of EP1 signaling in various pathological conditions. Studies have demonstrated its potential in inhibiting colon and prostate carcinogenesis by inducing apoptosis and suppressing tumor development in animal models. Additionally, ONO-8713 has been explored for its effects on pulmonary vasoconstriction and neurodegenerative or ischemic conditions like Alzheimer's disease and stroke, where it has shown modest anatomical benefits in preclinical mouse models. It is not approved for clinical use in humans.
