ONS-3040

ONS-3040 is a biosimilar candidate of denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody. It is designed to target and bind with high affinity to the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL). By inhibiting RANKL, the drug prevents the activation of its receptor, RANK, on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors. This inhibition leads to a reduction in osteoclast formation, function, and survival, thereby decreasing bone resorption and increasing bone mineral density. Originally developed by Outlook Therapeutics (formerly Oncobiologics), ONS-3040 was intended for the treatment of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions, although the developer has recently shifted its primary focus to other ophthalmic pipeline candidates.
