Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OP-R003 is a fully human antagonistic monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-6 (IL-6). It was developed using the ActivMab® technology platform and is structurally derived from elsilimomab (B-E8), a murine anti-IL-6 antibody. OP-R003 functions by binding to the IL-6 cytokine and preventing its interaction with the IL-6 receptor, which inhibits IL-6-induced cell signaling and proliferation. This mechanism makes it a potential therapeutic candidate for various inflammatory and proliferative disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple myeloma, post-transplant lymphoma, Crohn's disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus. The antibody is highly specific, detecting human and monkey IL-6, but it does not cross-react with murine or rat IL-6.
