OPAL001

OPAL001 is an experimental topical wound healing agent developed by Phoenix Eagle, an Australian biopharmaceutical company, using its proprietary OPAL technology. It is a bioactive natural extract derived from the flesh of Carica papaya (papaya) and Prunus persica (peach), typically prepared in a 10:1 ratio by volume. Formulated as both a filtrate and a cream, OPAL001 contains preserved cysteine proteases that maintain proteolytic activity, which is hypothesized to facilitate wound debridement and healing. Its therapeutic mechanism is thought to involve a combination of proinflammatory modulation, antioxidant effects, and vasorelaxation. OPAL001 has been investigated in case studies and small clinical evaluations for various chronic wounds, including pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and ulcerated skin grafts.
