Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Opalgyne is a vaginal anti-inflammatory medication containing benzydamine hydrochloride, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the indazole class. Developed by INNOTHERA and marketed by Laboratoire Innotech International, it was formulated as a 0.1% vaginal solution for the treatment of inflammatory conditions of the genitourinary system. Benzydamine acts primarily by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and stabilizing cell membranes, providing local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The medication was approved in France but was discontinued from commercialization in September 2022.
