OPB-111001

OPB-111001 is an investigational small molecule inhibitor of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3), developed by Otsuka Novel Products GmbH, a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical. STAT3 is a transcription factor that, when constitutively activated, promotes tumor cell proliferation, survival, and resistance to apoptosis in various malignancies. OPB-111001 was designed to be orally bioavailable and was evaluated in a Phase 1/2a clinical trial for patients with advanced solid tumors that were poorly responsive to standard treatments, including prostate, salivary gland, endometrial, cervical, breast, and ovarian cancers. However, the clinical development of OPB-111001 was terminated, and the compound is currently considered discontinued.
