Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OPC-3911 is a highly selective, potent inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3), specifically targeting the PDE3A and PDE3B isoforms (also known as cGMP-inhibited cAMP phosphodiesterase or cGI-PDE). Developed by Otsuka, OPC-3911 acts as a vasodilator and cardiotonic agent by preventing the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), thereby increasing intracellular cAMP levels. In preclinical studies, it has been shown to mediate vasodilation of arterial smooth muscle, induce vasodilatory responses in isolated arteriovenous tissues, and augment insulin secretion in pancreatic beta-cells. It is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate cyclic nucleotide signaling, congestive heart failure, and insulin resistance.
