Overview

OPERA is a dietary supplement developed by GAM-FARMA srl, Milan, Italy. It is a combination of α-Lipoic acid, Methylsulfonylmethane, Boswellia serrata, and Bromelain, formulated into a single hard-gelatin capsule. It is primarily indicated for the management of aromatase inhibitors-related arthralgia (AIA) in post-menopausal patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. The components work synergistically: α-Lipoic acid acts as an antioxidant, Boswellia serrata inhibits enzymes involved in inflammatory processes, Methylsulfonylmethane provides chondroprotective activity, and Bromelain acts as an anti-edema proteolytic enzyme. OPERA has also been shown to improve chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) symptoms.
