Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**OPF-109** is an investigational, triple-bag central total parenteral nutrition formulation developed by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory for adults with chronic kidney disease or chronic renal failure who require parenteral nutritional support. The kit supplies dextrose, amino acids, potassium-free and phosphorus-free electrolytes, zinc, and an FDA 2000-recommendation-based multivitamin formulation; it is designed to provide concentrated nutrition while limiting fluid volume and avoiding potassium and phosphorus loading. In a completed Japanese Phase III trial, OPF-109 produced nutritional protein outcomes comparable with an active multi-product TPN control and increased circulating vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and folate concentrations.
