Ophiopogonin D is a steroidal saponin compound isolated from the traditional Chinese herbal medicine *Ophiopogon japonicus* (Mai Dong). It is a potent antioxidant agent with multiple pharmacological activities including cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-osteoporosis, and neuroprotective effects. The compound works through various mechanisms including modulation of the β-catenin/GPX4 signaling pathway, reduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and inhibition of ferroptosis.
