Overview

OpSCF is a novel monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target the SCF248 isoform of stem cell factor (SCF), which plays a central role in chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Unlike other forms of SCF, SCF248 is associated with immune cell activation and pro-inflammatory signaling. By binding with high affinity to this membrane-bound isoform, OpSCF blocks its interaction with c-kit-requiring immune cells, thereby inhibiting the release of inflammatory and pro-fibrotic mediators. This mechanism interrupts the feed-forward cycle of chronic inflammation, allowing tissues to return toward homeostasis and heal. Importantly, OpSCF does not bind to other SCF isoforms such as SCF220 or soluble extracellular domains, preserving normal physiological functions of stem cell factor[1][2][5]. The drug is being developed by Opsidio in collaboration with AbbVie for inflammatory diseases including atopic dermatitis (currently in Phase 2 trials) and has preclinical development for fibrosis and general inflammation[1][2][4].
