OPT-200 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate being developed by Oppilotech for the treatment of Gram-negative bacterial infections. Discovered through Oppilotech's proprietary systems biology and computational modeling platform, the drug is designed to target lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a fundamental component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. LPS is essential for bacterial viability, structural integrity, and protection against environmental stressors, including antibiotics. By disrupting LPS biosynthesis or transport, OPT-200 aims to provide a novel mechanism for combating multi-drug resistant (MDR) pathogens, which represent a significant unmet medical need in infectious disease.
