Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Optacid** is a Hungarian non-prescription oral buffered gastric-acidity regulator marketed by Meditop. Each 2,000 mg granular powder mixture contains sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate and anhydrous sodium hydrogen sulfate, which form a buffer after dissolution in water and adjust gastric juice toward a physiologic pH of approximately 2.7. It is indicated for symptomatic treatment of abnormally low or high gastric acidity, including hypochlorhydria, hyperchlorhydria, dyspeptic complaints associated with irregular eating, anacid diarrhea, and gastric or duodenal ulcer-related complaints. Sodium bicarbonate and citric acid facilitate effervescence and rapid dissolution before oral administration.
