Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Optase Gel is a sterile, preservative-free ophthalmic lubricant designed to provide intensive, long-lasting relief for symptoms of moderate-to-severe dry eye disease. The formulation features a combination of glycerin, which acts as a humectant to attract and retain moisture on the ocular surface, and sodium hyaluronate, a viscoadaptive polymer that stabilizes the tear film and promotes ocular surface healing. To enhance its efficacy, the gel includes carbomer 980, which increases the viscosity of the solution, ensuring a prolonged residence time on the eye compared to standard liquid drops. Developed by Scope Eyecare, Optase Gel is particularly indicated for nighttime use or for patients requiring sustained protection against ocular irritation, burning, and dryness caused by environmental factors or tear film instability.
