Optase Intense (marketed as OPTASE Dry Eye Intense Drops) is a preservative-free, over-the-counter (OTC) ophthalmic lubricant designed to alleviate moderate to severe symptoms of dry eye disease, such as burning, irritation, and discomfort. The formulation contains 0.2% glycerin as the active ingredient, which functions as a humectant and lubricant to retain moisture on the ocular surface. It also incorporates high-molecular-weight sodium hyaluronate as an inactive ingredient to enhance the solution's rheological properties, thereby improving tear film stability and providing prolonged protection to the corneal epithelium. Developed and marketed by Scope Health, the product is compatible with contact lenses and is available in both multi-dose preservative-free bottles and single-use vials.
