Opti-Free RepleniSH

Opti-Free RepleniSH is a multi-purpose disinfecting solution (MPDS) developed by Alcon for the cleaning, reconditioning, rinsing, disinfecting, and storage of soft contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel lenses. It features the TearGlyde reconditioning system, which utilizes TETRONIC 1304 and nonanoyl ethylenediaminetriacetic acid to maintain a layer of moisture on the lens surface, thereby enhancing comfort during wear. The solution's antimicrobial efficacy is derived from a combination of Polyquaternium-1 (POLYQUAD) and Myristamidopropyl dimethylamine (ALDOX), which target microbial cell membranes to prevent ocular infections. In clinical research conducted by the University of Waterloo (NCT00415935), the solution was evaluated in a Phase 4 crossover study to assess its impact on corneal and conjunctival sensitivity and staining in patients with refractive errors such as myopia and hyperopia.
