Optilyte

Optilyte is a balanced, isotonic crystalloid solution designed for intravenous administration to restore fluid and electrolyte balance. Its composition closely approximates the electrolyte profile of human plasma, containing essential cations such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, alongside chloride and metabolizable anions like acetate and citrate. Unlike simple saline solutions, the inclusion of acetate and citrate allows for the generation of bicarbonate upon metabolism, providing a buffering effect that helps prevent or correct metabolic acidosis.
