Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Optive Fusion + Optive Gel Drop is a combination of two ophthalmic lubricants used to treat and relieve symptoms of moderate to severe dry eye disease. Optive Fusion contains carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC), glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate. CMC and sodium hyaluronate act as ocular lubricants while providing osmoprotective and moisturizing effects for the corneal surface; glycerin further enhances hydration and protection[1][2][5]. The drops restore osmotic balance and promote longer-lasting comfort for dry, irritated, or fatigued eyes, and are compatible with contact lens use. Optive Gel Drop features a higher concentration of carboxymethylcellulose sodium (1%), resulting in a gel-like consistency for prolonged lubrication and protection against further irritation, particularly for severe, persistent dry eye symptoms[4][6][7]. It shares osmoprotectant benefits with Optive Fusion and can be combined for additive/synergistic effect. Both products utilize Purite (stabilized oxychloro complex) as a gentle preservative which breaks down into natural tear components on the eye, minimizing irritation[1][5][8]. Developed primarily for dry eye, burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness or environmental factors[9].
