Overview

Orafyl is a flowable, decellularized human placental connective tissue matrix (HPCTM) developed for regenerative dental applications, specifically alveolar ridge preservation. Regulated as a Human Cell, Tissue, and Cellular and Tissue-Based Product (HCT/P) under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act, Orafyl serves as a biologic scaffold that provides essential structural proteins and extracellular matrix components. These elements are intended to support tissue healing and minimize the dimensional collapse (bone resorption and soft tissue shrinkage) that typically occurs following tooth extraction. In clinical evaluation by Saint-Joseph University, Orafyl is mixed with allograft bone substitutes to maintain ridge dimensions, thereby facilitating future dental implant placement.
